Regular Season Round 22: Bayamon - Quebradillas 80-85

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Vaqueros (21-11) in Bayamon on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Piratas (19-14) 85-80. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-80. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) chipped in 20 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American power forward Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and the former international Javier Mojica (190-84, college: Cent.Conn.St.) scored 18 points and 5 assists. Defending champion maintains third position with 19-14 record having just one point less than leader Bayamon. Vaqueros at the other side still keep top place with 11 games lost. Piratas are looking forward to face Atleticos (#7) in San German in the next round. Vaqueros will play on the road against the league's second-placed Capitanes (#2) in Arecibo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
