Regular Season Round 22: Ponce - Humacao 83-89

Humacao's road win over higher ranked Leones 89-83 was very exciting. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Leones. Leones trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 29-23 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 83-89 at the end of the game. Leones were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Brandon Costner (206-87, college: NC State) had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international forward Christopher Ortiz (203-93, college: Kent St., agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Dominican Victor Liz (193-86, agency: Basket Management Solutions) responded with 30 points and 5 rebounds and the former international swingman Angel-Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) scored 15 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Humacao maintains eighth position with 11-21 record. Loser Leones keep the fourth place with 17 games lost. Humacao will face league's leader Vaqueros in Bayamon in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Leones will play again on the road against Humacao and hope to win that game.
