Regular Season Round 22: Humacao - Quebradillas 93-94

Eighth-ranked Humacao (11-21) gave a tough game to third ranked Piratas (19-14). The visitors from Quebradillas managed to secure only one-point victory 94-93. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Humacao. Humacao was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 24-19 charge of Piratas, which allowed them to win the game. They made 25-of-27 charity shots (92.6 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The former international Michael Rosario (190-90, college: Florida) notched 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) supported him with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Even 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds by American forward Brandon Costner (206-87, college: NC State) did not help to save the game for Humacao. International forward Christopher Ortiz (203-93, college: Kent St., agency: Inception Sports) added 16 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains third position with 19-14 record having just one point less than leader Bayamon. Newly promoted Humacao stay at the bottom place with 21 games lost. Piratas will play against Atleticos (#7) in San German in the next round. Humacao will play at home against Leones and hopes to get back on the winning track.
