Regular Season Round 23: Arecibo - Quebradillas 101-84

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Capitanes as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Capitanes defeated 3rd placed Piratas in Arecibo 101-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Piratas. The game was mostly controlled by Capitanes. Piratas was better in second period 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Capitanes players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The former international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Davon Jefferson (204-86, college: USC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83, agency: Basket Management Solutions) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) added 18 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Piratas. Five Capitanes and four Piratas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Defending champion Piratas keep the third place with 15 games lost. Piratas will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Capitanes will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Piratas at Quebradillas.
