Regular Season Round 9: Amistad - CAN Oruro 108-77

There was a change at the Libobasque leadership position after last games. Round 9 most important game was a defeat of league's leader CAN Oruro (5-2). They were crushed by fifth ranked Amistad (4-3) 108-77 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of CAN Oruro. They outrebounded CAN Oruro 54-35 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Nigerian-American guard George Williams (198-90, college: Wayland Baptist) stepped up and scored 39 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners and American forward Tirrell Brown (198-93, college: Ouachita Baptist) chipped in 25 points and 16 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Williams is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was Argentinian Agustin Ambrosino (203-90, college: BYU) with 29 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Howard Crawford (205-88, college: UAB) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Amistad moved-up to third place, which they share with Carl A-Z. CAN Oruro at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Calero. CAN Oruro will play next round against Vikingos trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Amistad will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked La Salle CBBA in Cochabamba.
