An exciting game was played in Juana Diaz. Leones faced Capitanes. Host Leones (1-2) defeated guests from Arecibo (1-1) 103-91. The game was mostly controlled by Leones. Capitanes was better in third quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Leones shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American-Bosnian point guard Alex Renfroe (191-86, college: Belmont, agency: BeoBasket) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Victor Liz (193-86, agency: Basket Management Solutions) supported him with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds by American forward Davon Jefferson (204-86, college: USC) did not help to save the game for Capitanes. Naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) added 16 points and 11 assists for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Capitanes' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Leones' next round opponent will be Vaqueros in Bayamon and it will be for sure the game of the week. Capitanes will play on the road against Cariduros in Fajardo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
