Second Stage Round 4: Arecibo - Quebradillas 103-96

BSN round 4 caused change at the leadership position. Second defeat of league's leader Piratas (3-2) against first ranked Capitanes (4-2) 103-96 was the most important game of the last round. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 35-19. But Piratas won second period 21-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Capitanes made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. 28 personal fouls committed by Piratas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Davon Jefferson (204-86, college: USC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). Naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) contributed with 26 points and 7 assists for the winners. American guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) replied with 22 points and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and his fellow American import forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Piratas. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Piratas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Capitanes maintains first position with 4-2 record. Defending champion Piratas dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Arecibo. Piratas will play next round against league's leader Vaqueros trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Capitanes will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Piratas in Quebradillas.
