Quarter-Finals Round 3: Pichincha - CAN Oruro 89-68

Pichincha overcame CAN Oruro to avoid elimination. The hosts trailed by 15 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 21 points. Pichincha outrebounded CAN Oruro 45-33 including a 40-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for the former international swingman Rene Calvo (193-93) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international swingman Carlos Romero (190-84) accounted for 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Five Pichincha players scored in double figures. Pichincha's coach Cristiano Grama felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian power forward Agustin Ambrosino (203-90, college: BYU) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and American point guard Jeffery Stubbs (189-91, college: Jackson St.) added 22 points respectively for CAN Oruro in the defeat.
