Regular Season Round 1: BC Lulea - Nassjo 96-68

Very expected game when Nassjo (1-1) was rolled over on the road by BC Lulea (1-2) 96-68 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by BC Lulea. Nassjo was better in second period 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game, while Nassjo only scored five points from the stripe. They outrebounded Nassjo 45-22 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. BC Lulea looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Nassjo was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. British forward Robert Gilchrist (206-90, college: Florida St.) fired 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. International forward Denzel Andersson (203-96) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. BC Lulea's coach Peter Oqvist felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Franklin Williams (198-92, college: UMKC) produced 19 points and the other American import Marquis Jackson (196-94, college: Ohio Christian) added 15 points respectively for lost side. BC Lulea will face Uppsala Basket (#9) on the road in the next round. Nassjo will play against Koping Stars (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
