The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Slovan (0-1) in Bratislava on Thursday night. Hosts were rolled over by MBK Ruzomberok (1-0) 76-35. MBK Ruzomberok dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Slovan's 18. They outrebounded Slovan 37-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when MBK Ruzomberok made 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Chucky Jeffery (178-91, college: Colorado) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Lithuanian power forward Egle Siksniute (198-91) contributed with 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Radoslava Ostadalova (182-99) answered with 9 points and 5 rebounds and Marta Vargova (180-83) added 6 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Slovan. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. MBK Ruzomberok is looking forward to face Banska Bystrica (#5) on the road in the next round. Slovan will play against Samorin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
