Regular Season Round 5: CFBB - Challans 52-95

Not a big story in a game in Paris where bottom-ranked CFBB (0-5) was outplayed by fourth ranked Vendee Challans (4-1) 95-52 on Friday. Vendee Challans dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to CFBB's 30 and had 23 for 34 from the free-throw line, while CFBB only scored four points from the stripe. Vendee Challans forced 20 CFBB turnovers and outrebounded them 37-26 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. CFBB was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was center Jeremie Douillet (205-91) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Swingman Dominique Gentil (197-88, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. Four Vendee Challans players scored in double figures. Guard Timothe Crusol (185-1) produced 14 points and 8 assists and guard Lorenzo Thirouard-Samson (197-1) added 14 points respectively for the hosts. CFBB's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Vendee Challans. They keep a position of Group B leader, which they share with Union Tours and Bordeaux. CFBB lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Vendee Challans will face La Charite (#12) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. CFBB will play against Toulouse and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
