Regular Season Round 5: Dorsten - Hertener Loewen 74-69

There was a minor upset when second-ranked Hertener Loewen (3-1) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Dorsten (3-1) 74-69 on Saturday. Dorsten outrebounded Hertener Loewen 41-29 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bulgarian swingman Lyuben Paskov (196-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American guard Mike Nwabuzor (188, college: N.Mexico Highlands) chipped in 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Worth to mention Nwabuzor played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. American power forward Dijon Smith (203-89, college: Ft.Hays State) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and guard Mathias Perl (188-89) scored 11 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Hertener Loewen players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Dorsten. They moved-up to second place in West, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Hertener Loewen. Dorsten will face Salzkotten (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
