Regular Season Round 3: Plasencia - Avila 78-79

There was a minor upset when Plasencia (1-2) was edged at home by Fontedoso Carrefour (1-2) 79-78 on Sunday. Fontedoso Carrefour made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Plasencia turnovers. Plasencia was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for naturalized Brazilian center Sidnei De-Santana (216-83) who saved his team from a defeat with 18 points and 9 rebounds. American-Vincentian forward Phillip Lawrence (201-94, college: Marist, agency: Duran International) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American center Marcellus Roberts (203-95, college: Young Harris) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks and the other American import Duane Morgan (198-93, college: Adelphi) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Plasencia. Four Plasencia players scored in double figures. Plasencia's coach Rafael Sanz tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Fontedoso Carrefour will face Baskonia B at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
