Regular Season Round 3: Grindavik - Keflavik 62-97
Date: October 18, 2018
The most interesting game of round 3 was a home defeat of Grindavik (1-2) by Keflavik (2-1) who outscored them by 35 points 97-62. The game without a history. Keflavik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Grindavik's 24. They outrebounded Grindavik 42-27 including a 36-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Keflavik shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Grindavik's players. It was a great evening for the former international guard Hordur Vilhjalmsson (194-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. American forward Michael Craion (195-89, college: ORU, agency: Inception Sports) helped adding 22 points and 6 steals (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was the former international guard Olafur Olafsson (194-90) with 18 points and 6 rebounds and Dutch forward Jordy Kuiper (206-95, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Inception Sports) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Keflavik is looking forward to face Stjarnan at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Grindavik will play against Thor Thorl (#11) in Thorlakshofn and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
