Regular Season Round 5: GBA Sparta - Sokol Pisek 94-80

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Sokol Pisek (3-2) against ninth ranked GBA Sparta (1-4) on Friday night. Visiting Sokol Pisek was defeated by GBA Sparta in Praha 94-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sokol Pisek. GBA Sparta made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Norwegian Seikou Jawara (-0) nailed 23 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Marek Welsch (180-99) accounted for 6 points and 9 assists. Point guard Vojtech Sykora (186-1) came up with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Martin Svoboda (195-1) added 20 points respectively for Sokol Pisek in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. GBA Sparta left bottom position moving up to eighth place in West, which they share with Sokol Vyseh. and Sokol Prazky. Sokol Pisek at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with Loko Plzen and Slavoj Litom.. GBA Sparta will play against higher ranked Nymburk B (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sokol Pisek will play against BK Loko Plzen (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
