Regular Season Round 3: Afyon - Tofas 96-85

There was a minor upset when Tofas (2-1) lost to Afyon Bld (1-1) in Afyonkarahisar 85-96 on Saturday. Afyon Bld shot 69.1 percent from the field. Afyon Bld had a 23-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Afyon Bld especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for American guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import guard Tyrus McGee (188-91, college: Iowa St.) contributed with 19 points (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) for the winners. Cameroonian forward Kenny Kadji (211-88, college: Miami, FL) answered with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Sammy Mejia (199-83, college: De Paul) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Tofas. Four Tofas players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Afyon Bld will face Pinar Karsiyaka (#12) on the road in the next round. Tofas will play against Galatasaray (#13) and hope to win that game.
