Regular Season Round 4: CSKA Junior - Samara-2 76-61

The most important game in the last round took place in Moscow between third ranked Samara-2 (3-2) and top-ranked CSKA Junior (3-0) on Saturday night. Samara-2 was defeated by CSKA Junior on the road 61-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Samara-2. The game was mostly controlled by CSKA Junior. Samara-2 managed to win second period 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-19 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. CSKA Junior had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when CSKA Junior made 16 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Filipp Gafurov (209-1) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Makhar Konovalov (188-0, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) contributed with 15 points and 4 steals for the winners. Center Mikhail Ermilov (202-99) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and forward Danila Chikarev (196-1) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Samara-2. Samara-2's coach Dmitry Pivtsaykin rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CSKA Junior have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Samara-2 at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. CSKA Junior are again looking forward to face Samara-2 (#4) at home in the next round. Samara-2 will have a break next round.
