Regular Season Round 4: Zaporizhye - Politekhnik 104-77

Superleague top team - Zaporizhye (4-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Politekhnik (0-5) in Zaporozhye 104-77. The game was mostly controlled by Zaporizhye. Politekhnik was better in second period 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zaporizhye dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Politekhnik's 26. Zaporizhye forced 21 Politekhnik turnovers. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Zaporizhye players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. The winners were led by American guard Malique Trent (189-94, college: Hampton) who scored that evening 21 points and 5 rebounds and guard Yuriy Kondrakov (190-96) supported him with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Zaporizhye players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 6 assists by guard Roman Kozlov (190-90) did not help to save the game for Politekhnik. American point guard Jawan Davis (184-89, college: Claflin) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zaporizhye have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-1 record. Politekhnik at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Zaporizhye will play against league's second-placed Odessa on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Politekhnik will play against Cherkasy (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
