Regular Season Round 7: Mariupol - Niko-Basket 97-90

Undefeated Niko-Basket (3-1) recorded its first loss on the court of fifth ranked Mariupol on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Mariupol 97-90. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Niko-Basket. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 97-90. Mariupol made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. Guard Kirilo Zuev (196-93) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Guard Ivan Mikhyeyev (190-99) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Forward Sergiy Yurchenko (202-87) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and guard Bogdan Lukian (183-99) added 16 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Four Mariupol and five Niko-Basket players scored in double figures. Niko-Basket's coach Valentin Berestnev rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mariupol (3-3) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Niko-Basket at the other side keeps the third position with one game lost. Mariupol is looking forward to face Zolotoi Vek (#9) in Kirovograd in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Niko-Basket will play at home against Kremen (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
