Regular Season Round 2: Sydney - Melbourne 75-87
Date: October 21, 2018
An interesting game was also tough home defeat of Sydney Uni Flames in a game versus Boomers (#7) 87-75. Boomers forced 23 Sydney Uni Flames turnovers. Strangely Sydney Uni Flames outrebounded Boomers 37-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Sydney Uni Flames' players. American guard Lindsay Allen (173-95, college: Notre Dame) notched 23 points and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the effort and the former international center Cayla George (192-89) supported her with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. Four Boomers players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds by international center Alexandra Bunton (198-93) did not help to save the game for Sydney Uni Flames. American guard Brittany Smart (175-85, college: Cedarville) added 17 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Boomers will meet Canberra Capitals on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sydney Uni Flames will play against Townsville Fire (#5) and hope to win that game.
