Undefeated Capitanes (5-1) recorded its first loss in Guanajuato on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Abejas (2-2) 81-77. American swingman Zack Irvin (198-94, college: Michigan) fired 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The other American import guard Spencer Williams (188-95, college: Wooster) chipped in 17 points and 7 assists. Four Abejas players scored in double figures. Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91) produced 21 points and 8 rebounds and Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Abejas maintains third position with 2-2 record having five points less than leader Capitanes, which they share with Santos and Soles. Capitanes at the other side still keep top place with one game lost. They share the position with Mineros. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
