Regular Season Round 6: Mondragon - La Fecha 91-86

Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Mondragon (2-1) defeated at home bottom-ranked La Fecha (0-3) 91-86 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 91-86. Mondragon outrebounded La Fecha 54-21 including a 26-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for power forward Martin Buesa (204-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists. American center Zach Kirschbaum (208-93, college: Trinity Intern.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Guard Alan Morchon (185-99) replied with 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Jorge Martinez (185-96) added 10 points and 5 assists in the effort for La Fecha. Four Mondragon and five La Fecha players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Mondragon moved-up to fifth place in Group A-A, which they share with Gallofa. Loser La Fecha still closes the standings with three games lost.
