Everything could happen in Weinan at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Magic Deer and 10th ranked Red Wolves had identical 2-2 record. But Red Wolves were not able to use a home court advantage and were crushed by the opponent from Urumqi 101-62 on Tuesday night. Magic Deer dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Red Wolves' 32. They outrebounded Red Wolves 47-21 including a 31-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Natasha Howard (190-91, college: Florida St., agency: LBM Management) stepped up and scored 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Taiwanese Szu-Chin Peng (163-91) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Magic Deer players scored in double figures. Ning Song (180) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds and Taiwanese guard Hsien-Fang Lin (168-91) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Magic Deer (3-2) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hebei and Sichuan. Red Wolves lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with three games lost. Magic Deer will face higher ranked Sports Lottery (#6) in Penglai in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Red Wolves will play at home against the league's second-placed Vermilion Birds (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
