Regular Season Round 11: Tochigi Brex - Shiga L-Stars 90-93

Leading Tochigi Brex (9-2) recorded its second loss at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Shiga L-Stars (3-8) 93-90. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Tochigi Brex. Shiga L-Stars shot 61.7 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Nigerian-American power forward Gani Lawal (206-88, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 31 points and 9 rebounds. American-Israeli center DOr Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) chipped in 26 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. American forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) added 21 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Tochigi Brex's coach Ryuzo Anzai tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Shiga L-Stars moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Tochigi Brex still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Nagoya DD and Chiba Jets. Shiga L-Stars will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tochigi Brex will play again against Shiga L-Stars and hope to secure a win.
