Regular Season Round 7: La Fecha - Goierri 88-57

There was a surprise result in Arroyo Encomienda where thirteenth ranked La Fecha (1-3) outscored higher ranked Goierri (1-3) 88-57 on Saturday. La Fecha made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Goierri turnovers. It was a great evening for Sergio Irles (190-95) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Jorge Martinez (185-96) helped adding 11 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Four La Fecha players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Luka Lasa (194-94) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and Inigo Lasa (-98) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. La Fecha left bottom position moving up to ninth place in Group A-A, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Goierri. It was Goierri's third loss in a row. La Fecha will face higher ranked Ardoi (#3) in Zizur Mayor in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Goierri will play on the road against Mondragon (#5) and hope to win that game.
