Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Rapid (2-3) rolled over at home bottom-ranked Aurel Vlaicu Bucuresti (0-5) 80-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rapid. Aurel Vlaicu Bucuresti was better in fourth quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rapid made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Aurel Vlaicu Bucuresti turnovers. American guard Mikey Hope (185, college: Adams St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 7 rebounds. Bogdan Sandu (201-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Octavian Serbanescu answered with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and center Nicolae-Marian Ciuca (200-99) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Aurel Vlaicu Bucuresti. Four Aurel Vlaicu Bucuresti players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Rapid moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Miercurea Ciuc and Agronomia Buc. Aurel Vlaicu Bucuresti at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with five games lost. Rapid will face Univ.Cluj (#10) in Cluj Napoca in the next round. Aurel Vlaicu Bucuresti will play on the road against the league's second-placed Phoenix Galati and hopes to get finally their first victory.
