Regular Season Round 8: Fellbach - HAKRO Merlins II 76-69

Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Fellbach (3-4) defeated at home 13th ranked HAKRO Merlins II (1-6) 76-69 on Sunday. Fellbach made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. HAKRO Merlins II was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Scooter Gillette (206-90, college: Fair Dickinson) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and naturalized Lithuanian guard Vilius Sermokas (188-90) who added 15 points during the contest. Center Soeren Urbansky (214-0) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian point guard Aleksa Kovacevic (187-2) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Five HAKRO Merlins II players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fellbach moved-up to eighth place in South-West, which they share with Langen and Mainz. Loser HAKRO Merlins II keeps the thirteenth position with six games lost. Fellbach will face Kronberg (#14) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. HAKRO Merlins II will play against TV Langen and hope to win that game.
