Regular Season Round 7: San Fernando - Benahavis 58-87

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Benahavis (4-1) outscored on the road 10th ranked San Fernando (1-5) 87-58 on Sunday. Benahavis dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to San Fernando's 46. They outrebounded San Fernando 41-25 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Benahavis looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for forward Javier Meras (194-82) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Jermaine Sanders (196-92, college: Cincinnati) helped adding 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four Benahavis players scored in double figures. At the losing side Iago Paz responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and center Simon Ruiz (197-87) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Benahavis. They moved-up to second place in Group D-B. San Fernando lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Benahavis will face Caceres (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. San Fernando will play against Huelva and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
