Regular Season Round 7: Elbrus Cherk. - Ryazan 74-90

Bottom-ranked Elbrus Cherk. (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 90-74 loss to eighth ranked Ryazan (3-2) in Cherkessk on Wednesday evening. Ryazan outrebounded Elbrus Cherk. 44-28 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for power forward Yuriy Trubin (206-94) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Maksim Sakharov (194-93) helped adding 19 points. Four Ryazan players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Dmitriy Prokin (191-97) responded with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and center Mikhail Goretskiy (200-97) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Elbrus Cherk.'s coach Yuriy Meremkulov rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Ryazan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Neftekhimik T. Loser Elbrus Cherk. still closes the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Dynamo STV. Ryazan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Elbrus Cherk. will play again against Ryazan (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
