Regular Season Round 9: Shanxi Z. - Nanjing TX MK 97-98

A very interesting game took place in Taiyuan. It ended with only one-point home defeat of higher ranked Brave Dragons (3-6) to nineteenth ranked Monkey Kings (2-7) 98-97 on Thursday evening. Strangely Brave Dragons outrebounded Monkey Kings 46-29 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Joseph Young (188-92, college: Oregon) nailed 23 points and 8 assists for the winning side and center Adreian Payne (208-91, college: Michigan St.) accounted for 20 points and 8 rebounds. Shabazz Muhammad (198-92, college: UCLA) came up with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 18 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and guard Josh Adams (188-93, college: Wyoming) added 24 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Brave Dragons in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Monkey Kings moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Brave Dragons at the other side keep the fourteenth position with six games lost. Monkey Kings' next round opponent will be higher ranked Golden Stars (#10) in Jinan and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
