Regular Season Round 7: Yamanashi QB - Mitsubishi K. 62-106

Bottom-ranked Yamanashi QB (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 106-62 loss to third ranked Mitsubishi K. (5-2) in Yamanashi on Saturday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Yamanashi QB's 34. Mitsubishi K. had a 34-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Mitsubishi K. looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Yamanashi QB's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mitsubishi K. made 9 blocks. It was a great evening for point guard Mai Kawai (171-96) who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international center Risa Nishioka (186-97) helped adding 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Mitsubishi K. players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Hoshida Miho (163-94) responded with 13 points and forward Misa Yokoi (170-88) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Mitsubishi K.. They maintain third place with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader JX-Eneos S. Yamanashi QB lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Niigata R.. Mitsubishi K. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Yamanashi QB will play again against Mitsubishi K. (#3) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
