Regular Season Round 7: Alicante - L'Hospitalet 79-65

Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked L'Hospitalet (3-4) was defeated on the road by third ranked HLA Alicante (5-2) 79-65 on Saturday. HLA Alicante dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to L'Hospitalet's 30. HLA Alicante forced 21 L'Hospitalet turnovers and outrebounded them 35-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Devin Schmidt (193-94, college: Delta St., agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Center Alejandro Galan (204-99) helped adding 14 points and 6 rebounds. HLA Alicante's coach Pedro Rivero used entire bench saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Senegalese center Mouhamadou Diop (212-87) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Estonian guard Egert Haller (192-95) scored 12 points. Five HLA Alicante and four L'Hospitalet players scored in double figures. HLA Alicante moved-up to second place in Silver. Loser L'Hospitalet keeps the eighth position with four games lost. HLA Alicante will face Vic (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. L'Hospitalet will play against Moron (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
