There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Science City Jena (3-3) defeated on the road higher ranked BG Goettingen (4-3) 88-81 on Saturday. Science City Jena looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American point guard Julius Jenkins (187-81, college: Georgia South) fired 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import swingman Jamar Abrams (201-89, college: E.Carolina, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Michael Stockton (185-89, college: Westminster, UT) produced 22 points and 7 assists and Stephan Haukohl (205-93) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Science City Jena moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Bayreuth. Loser BG Goettingen keeps the sixth position with three games lost. Science City Jena will face ratiopharm Ulm (#17) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
