Regular Season Round 8: Aridane - Pozuelo 76-84

There was a minor upset in Los Llanos where higher ranked Aridane (3-5) was defeated by fourteenth ranked Pozuelo (3-5) 84-76 on Saturday. Strangely Aridane outrebounded Pozuelo 42-20 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Alberto Arias (188-89) who scored 9 points. Point guard Jose Galocha (185-88) chipped in 9 points. Mali-American power forward Nouhoum Bocoum (207-92, college: Arkansas St.) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds and American guard Corey Raley-Ross (191-91, college: Buffalo) added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pozuelo have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place in Group B, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Aridane. Pozuelo will face higher ranked Quintanar (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aridane will play against Estudio (#15) in Madrid and hope to win that game.
