Regular Season Round 7: Rapid - Targu Mures 45-84
Date: November 10, 2018
Very expected game in Bucuresti where 6th ranked Rapid (3-4) was crushed by leader Targu Mures (6-0) 84-45 on Saturday. The game without a history. Targu Mures led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Rapid to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Rapid 43-19 including a 24-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Targu Mures looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by Rapid's players. It was a great evening for center Szabolcs Santa (209-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Ioan-Alin Borsa (201-90) helped adding 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Targu Mures players scored in double figures. At the losing side Bogdan Sandu (201-87) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Mikey Hope (186, college: Adams St.) scored 11 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Targu Mures. They maintain first place with 6-0 record. Newly promoted Rapid keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Targu Mures will face Aurel Vlaicu Bucuresti (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rapid will play against Marmatiei and hope to win that game.
