Regular Season Round 8: Alginet - Puerto Sagunto 69-61

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Puerto Sagunto (1-5) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Alginet (3-3) 69-61 on Sunday. Alginet made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Puerto Sagunto was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was center Luis Verdeguer-Ferrer (205-87) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Adrian Galvez (187-87) chipped in 18 points. Alginet's coach Jose Canales used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Alejandro Alcaniz (192-89) produced 29 points (perfect from the field making all twelve shots !!!) and Italian Massimiliano Bosio (196-89) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Newly promoted Alginet maintains fourth position in Group E-A with 3-3 record. Puerto Sagunto lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with five games lost. Alginet will face L'Horta Godella (#7) in Valencia in the next round. Puerto Sagunto will play at home against the league's second-placed Valencia-2 and hope to win that game.
