Regular Season Round 15: Hitachi SR - SeaHorses 81-79

A very interesting game took place in Tokyo. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Aishin Sea Horses (7-8) to sixth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (5-10) 81-79 in the fight for the fourth place. Hitachi Sunrockers outrebounded Aishin Sea Horses 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) accounted for 30 points and 6 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach Geoffrey Katsuhisa allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) came up with 18 points and 9 assists and American forward Grant Jerrett (208-93, college: Arizona) added 20 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Aishin Sea Horses in the defeat. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place which they share with defeated Aishin Sea Horses. Aishin Sea Horses lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers' next round opponent will be higher ranked Kyoto Hannar. (#3) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aishin Sea Horses will play against the league's leader Diamond Dolphins and hope to win that game.
