Regular Season Round 5: Aris - Dnipro 86-61
Date: November 14, 2018
The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Greek Aris' (2-3) home victory over 4th placed Ukrainian Dnipro (0-5) 86-61 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Aris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 22 Dnipro turnovers. Aris looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American center Gary McGhee (209-88, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Inception Sports) stepped up and scored 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners and French point guard Boris Dallo (196-94, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. Forward Stanislav Tymofeyenko (204-89, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Maksym Zakurdaev (197-93) scored 14 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aris maintains third place in Group G with 2-3 record having just seven point less than leader Leiden. Loser Dnipro still closes the standings with five games lost. Aris will face league's leader Levski Lukoil in Sofia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dnipro will play at home against the league's second-placed Joensuun Kataja and hopes to get finally their first victory.
