Regular Season Round 11: Union Tours - Challans 83-62

Top ranked Vendee Challans (9-2) recorded its second loss on the court of eighth ranked Union Tours on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by Union Tours 83-62. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Vendee Challans. Union Tours forced 21 Vendee Challans turnovers. The best player for the winners was Bruno Cingala-Mata (200-93) who scored 22 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). American point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) chipped in 19 points and 6 assists. Four Union Tours players scored in double figures. Union Tours' coach Pierre Tavano felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Oumarou Sylla (185-92) produced 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and center Jeremie Douillet (205-91) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Union Tours (6-5) moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with 4 other teams. Vendee Challans at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Union Tours is looking forward to face Toulouse (#9) at home in the next round. Vendee Challans will play against Rueil (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
