Regular Season Round 10: Fos-Provence - Strasbourg 74-82

Very expected game in Fos-sur-Mer where 16th ranked Provence Basket (2-8) was defeated by fourth ranked SIG Strasbourg (7-3) 82-74 on Friday. SIG Strasbourg dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Provence Basket's 32 and made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Provence Basket 40-26 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Provence Basket was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Senegalese center Youssoupha Fall (221-95) scored 25 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Mardy Collins (196-84, college: Temple) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals during the contest. SIG Strasbourg's coach Vincent Collet allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American swingman Malik Hairston (198-87, college: Oregon) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import Ronald Lewis (193-84, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) scored 9 points. SIG Strasbourg have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Levallois. Newly promoted Provence Basket keeps the sixteenth position with eight games lost. SIG Strasbourg will face JSF Nanterre (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Provence Basket will play against the league's second-placed Levallois (#2) and hope to win that game.
