Regular Season Round 9: Almeria - CAM E.Soler 101-84

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Almeria (4-3) beat at home second-best CAM E.Soler (5-2) 101-84 on Saturday. Almeria shot the lights out from three sinking 21 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by CAM E.Soler's players. It was a good game for American power forward Mike Middlebrooks (206-92, college: Adams St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Argentinian-Italian Guillermo Casini (191-82) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Five Almeria players scored in double figures. American guard Jeremiah Davis-III (190-93, college: Florida Southern) answered with 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and the other American import Donta Smith (196-86, college: Tarleton St.) added 15 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for CAM E.Soler. CAM E.Soler's coach Javier Nieto rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Almeria moved-up to third place in Group D-A, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser CAM E.Soler keeps the second position with two games lost. Almeria will face Multiopticas Baza (#3) in Alicante in the next round, which may be the game of the day. CAM E.Soler will play at home against Novaschool and hope to win that game.
