Regular Season Round 9: Alcobendas - Gran Canaria II 84-74

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Alcobendas as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group B. Alcobendas defeated 3rd placed Gran Canaria II at home 84-74. It was a key game for the top position in Group B. Alcobendas forced 22 Gran Canaria II turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Gran Canaria II's players. It was a good game for guard Gabriel Diaz-Morera (197-89) who led his team to a victory with 16 points, 9 assists and 6 steals. Forward David Marina (202-88) contributed with 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Alcobendas players scored in double figures. Polish center Aleksander Balcerowski (216-0, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Romanian power forward Cristian Uta (211-97) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Gran Canaria II. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alcobendas (8-1) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Real Madrid II. Gran Canaria II at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Guadalajara. Gran Canaria II will play next round against Lanzarote trying to get back on the winning streak. Alcobendas will try to continue on its current victory against fifteenth ranked Liceo Frances in Madrid.
