There was a minor upset when 9th ranked Hagen-Haspe (4-5) was outleveled at home by eleventh ranked Leverkusen FB (3-6) 104-83 on Saturday. Leverkusen FB dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Hagen-Haspe's 50 and made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Leverkusen FB forced 20 Hagen-Haspe turnovers and outrebounded them 46-33 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for center Adrian Brueckmann (203-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Christian Froehlingsdorf (210-93) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Five Leverkusen FB players scored in double figures. French-Tunisian forward Hamdi Karoui (201-93, college: E.Utah JC) replied with 28 points and 5 rebounds and forward Oscar Luchterhandt (195-91) added 13 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Hagen-Haspe. Hagen-Haspe's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Leverkusen FB moved-up to tenth place in West, which they share with Dortmund. Loser Hagen-Haspe dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Leverkusen FB will face league's leader Duesseldorf at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
