No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Palestrina (5-3) beat 11th ranked Pozzuoli (2-6) in Roma 93-78 on Sunday. Palestrina dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Pozzuoli's 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Pozzuoli's players. Pozzuoli was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized Argentinian power forward Ignacio Ochoa (202-79) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Argentinian guard Nicolas Morici (192-94, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Palestrina's coach Francesco Ponticiello used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Power forward Matteo Bini (200-94) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Gennaro Tessitore (189-82) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Pozzuoli. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Palestrina moved-up to third place in B, which they share with 5 other teams. Newly promoted Pozzuoli dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. Palestrina will face Catania Alfa (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Pozzuoli will play against Palermo GB and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
