The game in Leeuwarden supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Groningen (8-1) played at the court of 6th ranked Leeuwarden (4-6). Groningen smashed Leeuwarden 97-60 on Thursday. Groningen shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American players dominated the game. Forward Joseph Wall (199-89, college: Seattle Pacific) nailed 20 points for the winning side and point guard Jordan Callahan (184-90, college: Tulane) accounted for 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. Groningen's coach Erik Braal felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. David Michaels (201-90, college: Whitman) came up with 20 points and forward Griffin Kinney (203-95, college: Appalachian St., agency: Court Side) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Leeuwarden in the defeat. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Groningen. Defending champion maintains second place with 8-1 record having just three points less than leader Zwolle. Loser Leeuwarden keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Groningen will meet at home Den Helder (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Leeuwarden will play against Amsterdam and hope to secure a win.
