Regular Season Round 5: Barsy Atyrau - Kozuv 73-82

FYR Macedonian Kozuv has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Atyrau, where they defeated Kazakhstan Barsy Atyrau (0-3) 82-73 on Thursday. Kozuv had a 35-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Barsy Atyrau helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Rob Lewis (185-94, college: Queens, NC) stepped up and scored 18 points and 7 assists for the winners and Serbian power forward Ivan Miskovic (204-84, college: Alaska-Fairb., agency: Interperformances) chipped in 14 points and 13 rebounds. Pavel Ilyin (196-88) responded with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Dmitriy Klimov (202-88) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four Kozuv and five Barsy Atyrau players scored in double figures. Barsy Atyrau's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kozuv (1-3) left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with Bashkimi. It was Barsy Atyrau's third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. Kozuv is looking forward to face higher ranked Academik Plovdiv (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Barsy Atyrau will have a break next round.
