Regular Season Round 2: Singapore S. - Westports MD 101-47

Malaysian Westports MD (0-1) recorded a loss on the court of Singapore Singapore Slingers on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by Singapore Slingers 101-47. Singapore Slingers dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Westports MD's 32. They outrebounded Westports MD 44-33 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Singapore Slingers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Westports MD's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Singapore Slingers made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 8 rebounds and 17 assists. The other American import power forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Four Singapore Slingers players scored in double figures. American forward Chris Eversley (201-91, college: Cal Poly - SLO) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and Nigerian-American power forward Nnanna Egwu (211-92, college: Illinois) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
