Regular Season Round 9: Partizan NIS - Crvena Zvezda 71-77

The most interesting game of round 9 was a derby match between two teams from Serbia/BC-Partizan-NiS-Beograd/170. The game took place in Beograd where leader Crvena Zvezda won against host Partizan (4-5) 77-71. The best player for the winners was Greek Stratos Perperoglou (203-84) who scored 25 points. American-Liberian point guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) chipped in 19 points and 6 assists. Crvena Zvezda's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Australian center Jock Landale (211-95, college: St.Mary's, CA) who recorded 18 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Marcus Paige (184-93, college: N.Carolina) added 12 points respectively. Four Partizan players scored in double figures. Crvena Zvezda (9-0) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending Serbian champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 9 victories in a row. Partizan at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Igokea and FMP. Crvena Zvezda are looking forward to face KK Zadar (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Partizan will play against Igokea in Aleksandrovac and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
