Regular Season Round 8: Rilski - Spartak Pleven 91-75

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Rilski (6-1) beat 6th ranked Spartak Pleven (2-5) in Samokov 91-75 on Saturday. Rilski looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The winners were led by the former international guard Zlatin Georgiev (197-85) who scored that evening 30 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American Jalen Jenkins (201-94, college: George Mason) supported him with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Four Rilski players scored in double figures. Even 25 points and 7 rebounds by forward Konstantin Koev (196-91) did not help to save the game for Spartak Pleven. Point guard Nikolay Marinov (190-94) added 22 points and 5 assists for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rilski maintains second position with 6-1 record having just three points less than leader Levski Lukoil. Spartak Pleven lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Academic Sofia. Rilski will meet Yambol (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Spartak Pleven will play against Academic Sofia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
