Regular Season Round 11: Hertener Loewen - Hagen-Haspe 91-82

Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Hagen-Haspe (4-6) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Hertener Loewen (7-2) 91-82 on Saturday. Hertener Loewen dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Hagen-Haspe's 34 and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Hertener Loewen forced 27 Hagen-Haspe turnovers and outrebounded them 42-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Hagen-Haspe's players. It was a great evening for American power forward Dijon Smith (203-89, college: Ft.Hays State) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Felix Neumann (201-90) helped adding 21 points and 8 rebounds. French-Tunisian forward Hamdi Karoui (201-93, college: E.Utah JC) responded with 28 points and 4 steals and forward Oscar Luchterhandt (195-91) scored 18 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Hertener Loewen. They moved-up to second place in West, which they share with Herford. Hagen-Haspe lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with six games lost. Hertener Loewen will face league's leader Duesseldorf on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hagen-Haspe will play against Salzkotten (#12) and hope to win that game.
